Four Points of Light: When Neighbors Become Collaborators

What happens when four artists, whose studios are just minutes apart, decide to come together? You get Four Points of Light—a vibrant new group exhibition opening September 27, 2025 at Creative Flow Art Center in Fridley.

Though their styles and mediums couldn’t be more different, these four Minnesota artists share something powerful: a desire to bring more light into the world through their art. Their collaboration grew naturally out of proximity, conversations, and a shared belief that creativity shines brightest in community.

As the artists themselves put it:
“Although our styles, subject matter, and choice of medium are different, we treasure all the ways that art brings light into the world.”

Four Unique Voices, One Shared Light

Step into the gallery and you’ll find four distinct interpretations of light—its warmth, its energy, and the way it shapes meaning and memory. From expressive brushstrokes to layered textures, from landscapes to mixed media, each artist brings their own perspective while illuminating connections between them all.

Here’s who you’ll meet:

Calvin deRuyter – A Hamline University–trained painter who explores visual conflict through color, texture, and form. His award-winning work has been celebrated across Minnesota and beyond.

Lyssa Lovejoy – An Evansville-based artist blending Contemporary, Abstract, and Expressionist styles. Her textured works often hide messages within, inviting dialogue and reflection.

Jackie Henning – A mixed media painter who combines photography, paint, plaster, and natural elements to reveal the beauty in the everyday. Her work has been shown in regional and national exhibitions.

Stephen Henning – A contemporary impressionist landscape painter capturing those magical, light-filled moments in nature. His work has found homes with collectors in all 50 states (and around the globe!).
